Dave,
A couple of months ago I purchased your live XM radio session off of iTunes. I have been a fan of yours since the mid-70's, and had the opportunity to attend several concerts way back then.
Your gig at the old Richmond, VA Mosque back in '75 or '76 is only topped by a Stones show I went to a couple of years later. Pretty good company . . . anyways, I just wanted to thank you for over 30 years of "Satisfaction"! You know, back then you looked a lot different, and so did I.
Your version of Dylan's "All Along the Watchtower" has always been my absolute favorite, and I've heard most of the covers, but you outdid yourself in the XM session. We both may be older, but you never sounded better!
Keep Rockin'

Hi, Dave,
I recently stood in line for 2 hours outside the State Theater in Falls
Church, VA before the concert last Thursday to get a table reservation to
see you. I had a foot cast and needed to sit at a table. I saw you in Long
Beach, CA in the early 70's when I lived back there and I was anxious to see
you locally, now that I live out here. Ted was so gracious and talked to me
in line for quite some time before the concert and reserved a table in
advance for my girlfriend and me as a very nice gesture. It was a fabulous
concert and I only wish you played again closer to VA so I could take my
husband along. I bought the XM cd and had you sign it after the concert. (I
cut in line because my ride wouldn't wait for me to have you sign it. Ted
was at the table near you and remembered me in my cast, and you went ahead
and autographed it for me with a smile.) I have played the cd for many of my
younger friends and have ordered several copies from Amazon.com as gifts for
them.
I would love to get up to New York on Dec. 1, my husband's birthday, and I
want to surprise him with tickets to the concert. We would drive up and
stand in line for the best table/seat prior to the concert. Is there any
chance we could have a opportunity to meet you prior or after the concert on
that date? I do not know how to arrange this or even if this is possible. If
there is a way to do this, it would be the greatest gift I could give him
for his birthday.
I hope you have had a great tour so far and I look forward to being able to
arrange getting the tickets for this concert. If you can forward this on to
someone who may give me information and advice about how to meet you at the
concert, I would be so grateful.
Your sincere fan, |
Hi Dave,
I just had the pleasure of seeing you live at Wheeling Island Casino
in Wheeling , West Virginia. I was fortunate enough to be up close in
the front row with my father who is also a big fan.
You played a couple of new songs that I really liked. Is there a new
cd in the future?? And one last question - Will there be any re-issues
of your solo works such as "Mariposa de Oro" or "Split Coconut" just
to name a couple??
Thanks so much for your time and especially your music that has, and
always will stand the test of time. Great show tonight - Great Band!!! |
Concert was amazing! Dave Mason was a very important artist for me in the
70's. so glad I was able to see and hear him up close and personal. I have
seen him several times and it was a great night.
Great blast from the past was Jimmy Vivino, my sister and I went to school
with him. Again it was a great night. |
Dave,
I have loved rock and roll music since the sixties and was in a garage band called "The Changing Times." We were heavily into the Rolling Stones and covered the entire High Tides and Green Grass album. Your music holds a
special place in my heart because not only is fun to listen to and play but it really talks to my heart. I love the song "The Lonely One" the best. It is truly wonderful and to me takes on new meaning with time.
You are a great and special song writer and a wonderful player and guitarist as well. Recently I got back on stage to do a benefit concert for a charity in Boston
called "The Home for Little Wanderers" which is an agency that shelters abused children.
One of the songs I played was "We Just Disagree" another of your great songs that I can truly relate to. I enclose some pictures of me and some of the other players including my niece on drums. I wanted to get some Christmas presents for those kids for next year and was able to do that.
It was really great to get up there again and play music. My best to you and much continued success. You lived the Rock and Roll dream I had but now I am living my dream in my own way. Thank you for the inspiration your music has given me and for the music itself. |
Dear Mr. Mason
August 4th, 2007 was a dream-come-true. It was a day that i anticipated for over 30 years. It was the first time that I experienced a live performance by my favorite artist of all time. If I had known that I would be so moved I would have seen you years ago. Perhaps the wait made it more special.
Just six days later, on August 10, 2007, I attended your concert at the Bearsville Theatre in Woodstock, NY. You touched my soul. I have waited all of these months to write this letter because I thought that over time I would think of a way to best express what it meant to me. While the passage of time has not diminished anything, it has not really aided me in expressing myself.
On March 1, 2008, I saw you at the Egg in albany, NY. Three times is a charm, so here it goes. Very simply, your music speaks to me. It reaches places that have never been visited before. Every time I listen I hear something new. It's like going on a journey to a foreign land. It's differentness awakens my senses. It stimulates. Yet at the same time it is like coming home, it is known, familiar, comforting. It refreshes. It can make me whoop and holler, it can make me cry, but it never fails to move me. The sensitivity of your music and your delivery tells me that you have lived life fully, bravely and adventurously, never half-heartedly.
I distinctly remember one summer day in 1970's. I was in a department store. The music department was piping in music. I heard a song that was so beautiful that I run over there, asked them what was playing, and purchased the album. The song was "Seasons." The album was "Let it flow". That is when I was at Eastern Connecticut State College. At any given moment, you could have James Tyler coming from my neighborhood's apartment and Dave Mason coming from mine. I played your albums so much I am amazed that I didn't wear them out. I never tire of listening. My favorite is the XM Radio CD. Like a fine wine you have improved with age. To me, you are better than ever. I love the interview part and hearing you laugh. Your laughter is genuine, playful and reveals your remarkable depth. I believe you truly love what you do.
Now that I have seen you three times, part of me has been fulfilled. since last August I have wanted to give you something back. I could not think of a single material thing that would convey the depth of my sincere respect and deep admiration for you so I started this simple ritual. I am not a religious zealot and I don't flaunt my believes. But I will tell you that not a single day has passed since last August that I have not prayed for your safety, god health and for your continued ability to do all of the things in life that bring you the most satisfaction and fulfillment. In your hectic world, may you find peace. I spent 11 years on the road in the world of magic. While it had it's moments, it can be very hard.
Tomorrow morning when I go to the grocery store I am hoping to hear a song they often play, "Will you still Love me Tomorrow" by my favorite artist.
No matter what I am doing, you are never very far away. I hope it pleases you to know that you have such a devoted fan. I look forward to seeing you again with all of the anticipation and excitement of a child on Christmas Eve waiting for Santa Clause. Your gift is better than anything I could find under the tree.
Thank you for rocking my world and making me believe that Rock' n Roll is an attitude, not an age. |
I have a nice story to tell you about Look at you Look at Me.
I was standing on a beautiful mountain watching my children skii and suddenly "LOOK AT YOU, LOOK AT ME" came over a loud speaker.
The resort was playing music off of XFM stations and I had not heard that song since maybe when it first came out.
I stood there "becoming a part of all that I could see" the mountain was brilliant
white and the sky a brilliant blue. The air was clean and sweet. And this song took me up a few notches to a much higher consciousness.
Thank you Dave Mason for that song. Your art lifted me. I'm back to being a big fan. |
Dear Dave:
I saw you at the University of Georgia in 1978-79, and you were sensational. What a world-class voice and brilliant musicianship. I wanted to write and thank you most especially for one of the most beautiful songs in my personal library "We Just Disagree."
I fondly remember all the music from the Traffic days as well, when I had just
begun exploring me head, as it were, and your music was a perfect backdrop for all of that dizzy fun. God bless and keep up the wonderful music for us all.
Warmest personal regards, |
Dave,
Thank you for all of the unforgettable music over all of these years. I
discovered your work back in the Traffic days and have followed your
work since then. Many of my friends have also been introduced by my
carrying your work with me in my travels. I send my encouragement for
you to continue what you love doing. |
Dear Mr. Mason
I have just come home from your concert at the Coach House in San Juan Capistrano and wanted to let you know how very much I enjoyed the show and how deeply you and your music have touched my life.
I first saw you at the Filmore East in New York City in 1973 and then again in Los Angeles about a year later. Your music touched my heart and soul in a way that no other artist of the day could, the songs and lyrics resonated with me so deeply that all these years later, at 54 years of age, I sat tonight with tears streaming down my cheeks listening to what I can only describe as the soundtrack of my life.
The songs are timeless, the message is without bounds. And...as I sit at my computer searching for appropriate words to convey my admiration and joy at having experienced this special evening, I realize that I can never adequately express how remarkable and amazing you are.
I can only hope, in some small way, you can appreciate the fact that you touched at least one young girl so profoundly and deeply that all these years later I'm moved to tears at the mere sound of your voice. Thank you so very much for giving me a "sound track" to cherish and remember my youth by.
With love and gratitude,
a Life Long Fan and Admirer |
I am sitting here listening to my Dave Mason Live LP. Can't wait to here you live
again. Thanks for all the great music. See you at the Coach House. |
Hi Dave,
Just before going to bed, I decide to look through my list of You Tube favourites, and watch you in this clip http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TCpQLZs2Eh8
that I've watched so many times before.
And like usual, I watch it over a number of times in succession, because I find it difficult to cry from day to day; I need that trigger that's going to make it happen, and your song works like a charm. You do the work of breaking through *for* me. :)
And I get moved to thinking about what a gift a song can be. Your song 'We Just Disagree' goes back so far and so deep for me. The bittersweetness (my favourite type of flavour :) of the song is so profound and yet I don't know when I first heard the song or what I associate it with.
But it touches something so deep inside of me. The amazing, indescribable magic of music.............
I live my life as a professional musician ---- so blessed to make a living this way. And I'm told regularly, in all sorts of ways, that I make a big positive difference in people's lives as a result. But it's difficult for me to get outside my own head and accept that.
Dave, I hope that you are better at this than I am.
I hope my writing to you to thank you for giving me such a deep, personal gift, really moves you, and makes you feel like your life here on Earth has been prfoundly well spent.
If kindness is the rent we must pay for our time here, then you sir have given generously.
I wish you an abundance of happiness and peace for the rest of your days.
Thank you |
Hi mr. Mason,
When i think back to my early years, i still hear my mother sing along with
your songs. One of my favorites would be “you are every woman” sinds my
mother past away mutch to early at the age of 36.
With kind regards |
